BAYSIDE LOUNGE

With a focus on promoting community and conversation, In-Site Interior Design completely redesigned the Bayside Lounge, the central amenity hub for the residents of the two towers that comprise this upscale condominium in Bayside, New York. The latest phase in an ongoing collaboration with the Bay Club, the Bayside Lounge interior design project addressed not only the central lounge itself but also the facility’s card room and banquet hall.

The first task for our New York interior designers was to determine a layout of the lounge that would be conducive to gatherings large and small. A large round fireplace had previously dominated the center of the space, breaking up the space and limiting the size of groups that could gather together in the lounge. By reshaping the layout of the space and adding a modern, rectangular fireplace to create one gathering area, we were able to maximize usable square footage and make it the focus of the main lounge area while integrating the residents’ sizable lending library.

Creating a modern design that worked within the building’s curvilinear architecture, In-Site reimagined the lounge to be upscale, welcoming, and attractive. Materials selected for the space are versatile and easy to clean to accommodate the many ways the space would be used, by residents ranging from children to seniors. We utilized pops of color, rich textures, custom cabinetry, and surprising asymmetrical details to create a beautiful long-range vista of the space as a whole as well as thoughtful, small details for close-up viewing.

Rounding out our work on the lounge, In-Site also created a comfortable, dedicated card room for residents to gather over a game of bridge or mahjong and transformed the facility’s banquet hall with graceful finishes, ceiling cove, and lighting. Finally, we transformed the men’s and women’s restrooms in the lounge into elegant, sophisticated retreat spaces complete with natural wood tones and beautiful water jet-cut custom mosaics.

Our interior design for the Bayside Lounge has delighted residents, who are hosting book clubs, birthday parties, card tournaments, and more in the newly revamped space.
