In the heart of New York City, thoughtful home interior design begins with re-evaluating how space supports modern living. A traditional brownstone layout originally featured all bedrooms on a single floor, an outdated layout that lacked privacy and failed to meet our client’s lifestyle. Our team of In-Site Designers developed this townhouse interior design to better align with their lifestyle. By relocating the primary bedroom to the parlor level and positioning the secondary bedrooms on a separate floor we created more private spaces for the family members and created new comfortable accommodations for the wife and husband. The result is a more functional vertical layout that enhances flow, comfort, and long-term livability within a classic urban townhouse structure.
Elevating Everyday Living with Contemporary Interior Design
A key transformation in this brownstone interior design was converting a basic eat-in kitchen into a cohesive Great Room design. Through intentional contemporary interior design, we opened visual sightlines and unified the kitchen, dining, and living spaces into a dynamic gathering environment. Custom cabinetry was designed to maximize storage while maintaining clean architectural lines, and a comprehensive lighting design layered ambient, task, and accent lighting for warmth and functionality. The newly created Great Room now serves as the heart of the home and is ideal for entertaining and daily life, bringing light, scale, and sophistication to this home.
Custom Cabinetry During Interior Design Makes Things Easier
The process of design involves listening carefully to the client’s needs and translating them into specific layouts, furnishings and cabinetry. When planning a kitchen we get extremely specific on where the plates, glasses, large platters, pots and small appliances are all located. Special drawer and base cabinet inserts are selected to maximize the storage. For the townhouse entry hall interior design we created individual cabinets and niches for the family’s backpacks, outer clothing and shoes as well as specific places to charge up phones and ipads.
Primary Suite Expansion & Architectural Collaboration
To complement the newly positioned primary bedroom, we added a spacious primary bathroom directly adjacent to the suite. This enhanced both convenience and luxury in condo townhouse style interior design project. Every detail was thoughtfully executed by our In-Site designers, from custom millwork and cabinetry to staircase railing design and curated furnishings throughout the residence. Collaboration was central to the project’s succes. We worked closely with the project architect who managed the Building Department submission process and construction administration. Together, the team delivered a seamless blend of architecture and contemporary interior design, redefining modern townhouse design in New York City with elegance, intention, and enduring functionality.
