POINT RF: INDUSTRIAL OFFICE DESIGN

Industrial, Bold, Clean

A medical technology firm for long-term life-safety care in the NYC metro area, required a new office space for their growing business venture. After finding a large enough building space in Long Island City’s redeveloping neighborhood, their team asked Elizabeth S. Vaughan and her professional interior designers to assist with their needs for a contemporary, industrial office.

Working with the client to create a complete set of construction drawing, including maximize on space planning and reflected ceiling drawings with light output assessment were tackled during the planning phase. A full list of material, lighting, plumbing and furniture specifications were included for the client to send out for bid. A complete interior design package was provided after material selections were approved for the large NYC office space.

This corporate office was designed to be contemporary, assist with open communication and includes industrial design elements throughout. The open office layout creates a loft feel complimenting the community and showcasing themselves as an up and coming tech firm. The large open office space is centralized in the building with private offices, conference rooms and team meeting rooms around the perimeter. Strong blue painted columns are pronounced against the off-white walls and ceiling.

Maximizing on expansive glazing allows visual connection. The open workstations have grey acoustic fabric with a clear blue acrylic panel for aesthetic excitement and reinforcing branding. A Mohawk Group carpet tile with a linear two-tone pattern anchors the workstations and a grey-d LVT by Mannington Commercial defines the circulation path. Ceiling suspended linear pendants provide general lighting throughout as the exposed ceiling and building systems are highlighted.

The Lobby interior design features backlit signage with the company logo and blue accents to greet visitors with a strong branding association the moment they enter the NYC building. A staff kitchenette is decked out in GE appliances, wood plastic laminate millwork and a dimensional backsplash tile from Porcelanosa. The executive lounge bathroom includes a contemporary and sophisticated design with Toto bathroom fixtures, wall hung vanity and wavy patterned porcelain tile. To round out the workplace, multiple conference room sizes are provided to support the staff for their diverse operational needs. The large conference room has ample room for large meetings with comfortable upholstered mid-back chairs and accommodates technology needs within the conference table.
