PRIVATE EXECUTIVE OFFICE DESIGN

Professional, Conservative, Functional

At the start of this private executive office renovation Creative Principle of In-Site Interior Design, Elizabeth Sanchez Vaughan, met with the client to review the goals: maximize the use of the space in his Williamsburg office, integrate accent lighting within a contemporary design and provide dramatic impact to showcase the room to impress clients.

As in many older buildings within the Brooklyn area, this executive office interior design presented challenges with regards to spatial limitations for overall function, ceiling height and clearances for mechanical equipment. We met these challenges by developing a layout that features a mix of full height custom millwork for books, medium height file cabinetry and lower door units that maximized storage. The air conditioner is located in an adjacent closet while a custom grill is integrated into the wall panels. The radiator below the window is encased within the desk system with an access panel and hidden ventilation grille.

The executive desk is a custom design featuring an asymmetrical pedestal and pencil drawer well-proportioned for the room. Custom cabinetry in contrasting maple and anigre veneers with an emphasis on a horizontal design using metal accent bars pairs perfectly with the custom desk. The softly textured wallcovering acts as artwork and provides a relief from the wood veneer bringing a feeling of softness to the overall interior space.

A striking angular ceiling design that houses recessed lighting and color changing LED strip provides the final element in the creation of a beautiful executive office design to work in and while achieving the dramatic effect he now enjoys.

BEST PRACTICES FOR EXECUTIVE OFFICE INTERIOR DESIGN:

TIPS FROM THE TRADE

1

GIVE THE OFFICE A POINT OF VIEW

Just as a picture tells a thousand words, so does a space. Giving your clients, investors, and employees the right impression says a lot the moment they step through the door for in person, or virtual meetings. In-Site Interior Design always takes into consideration the company branding when selecting finishes and design concept for an executive office. We often start with a feature wall by choosing an accent paint color or an interesting wallpaper that creates a statement that can be a bold and powerful, or a welcoming and calming. In-Site Interior’s then chooses the best accessories and wall decor for a polished final touch. Featuring framed artwork, diplomas, awards or branding materials, hung in an interesting arrangement creates interest for your executive office design. Our designers ensure everything specified is cohesive from lighting to flooring and furniture; working together to tell a piece of your story.

2

WHEN IT COMES TO SPACE, PLAN IT OUT

Space planning is a powerful tool used by interior designers to visualize the potential transformation of the executive office. Designing the optimal floor plan and furniture layouts, we as the creative professionals use it to demonstrate how the best use of space would be arranged for client review. Upon approval, that information gets transposed to construction documents for the contractor, subs and furniture delivery teams to ensure the final placements are exactly what was designed. In-Site’s NYC designers use it to determine if walls can be opened up, best flow of the room, size of furniture, private bathroom details, optimal supervision over employees, and so much more!

3

FUNCTION, COMFORT AND STYLE OF THE EXECUTIVE DESK

Being comfortable is key to short and long-term work efficiency; but who said you can’t do it in style? In-Site’s professional interior designers make sure to best represent the branding for the company you want to portray when designing the executive desk. Are you looking for contemporary and sleek with a sit stand desk option for a forward-thinking modern approach? Or is a traditional desk with ornate detailing and vintage character best for a powerful or worldly statement? Next, our creative designers select the best organization tools for your specific needs to assisting with work flow: i.e. power grommets, file and pedestal organization, keyboard tray and placement, number of monitors to name a few. And of course, the executive chair adjustment options and considering its relationship to the desk is reviewed by designers for optimal ergonomics; key for comfort and functionality.
